Prerequisites for AP Calculus BC

As defined by the College Board, students should feel comfortable with the following topics before beginning AP Calculus BC:
Courses of Study:
  • Algebra
  • Geometry
  • Trigonometry
  • Analytic geometry
Elementary functions including:
  • Linear
  • Polynomial
  • Rational
  • Exponential
  • Logarithmic
  • Trigonometric
  • Inverse Trigonometric
  • Piecewise Defined
Mathematical Properties:
  • Algebra of functions
  • Graphs of functions
  • Language of functions (domain and range, odd and even, periodic, symmetry, zeros, intercepts, slope, etc.)
  • Values of trigonometric functions for the unit circle

AP Test Information

  • The 2024 AP Calculus BC exam is scheduled for 8:00am on Monday, May 13. 
  • Check this website for a list of approved calculators for use on the AP test.
  • The fee for each AP exam is $100. For more information on the exam, please visit the Stoney Creek HS Counseling Page.

Students are highly encouraged to take the exam because they have the potential to earn college credit for calculus I and calculus II courses. Please email Mr. Rizzi with any further questions about the AP exam.
